The Federetion of Industrial Trade Unions OBES has been founded in 1979 and today, is a major power in the Greek Trade Unions and one of the main voices to express of the interests of industrial workers and employees.
OBES supports its members in multiple ways, by negotiating and signing collective agreements, defends the rights of workers and promotes their personal and professional development, cooperates with second and third level trade unions in Greece and above. Furthermore, OBES promotes the European cooperation of trade unions by organising training courses, conferences, visits and other activities in cooperation with trade unions in other countries. Among the subjects that are of interest the latest years are: European Work Councils, Occupational Health and Safety, participation of youngsters and women in trade unions, non-formal and informal training.
OBES is working in the issue of the quality assurance in training and was the promoter of the project Quality.net
